District and Circuit Courts

The court system has many separate sectors and levels. Two of these are the District and Circuit courts. District courts deal with trials, and are courts of origian jurisdiction. Circuit courts do not deal with evidence, and examine trial records.

There are 94 District courts in the United States, with every state having at least one. Some of the larger states can have as many as 4. District courts hear both civil and criminal cases, making this where most federal cases begin. The judge determines the issues of law, and the jury finds issues of fact.

There are 13 Circuit courts of appeal in the United States. The "13th" Court sits in Washington D.C. With exception to those criminals found guilty, anyone can go to circuit court when displeased with their judgement in a district court.These courts do not review any facts, they simply determine if the trial record is correct.

Change in Budgeting

When changing the budget from 2006 in our recent project, I found it very necessary to attempt to cut the deficit. This proved difficult. I looked into many programs that i felt were rather unnecessary, and others I felt desirved more benifits. I increased the percentage being sent to retired military and the military as a whole, aside from a reduction of 10% to the war in Iraq and Afganistan.

I felt that a cut in the deficit would in the long run be good for the economy and the country. I cut the deficit by nearly 180 Billion. This would allow the government to have more money to use in other places, or to lower taxes for the people of the United States. Most of this money came from a 50% cut to General Government Administration.

My views on military differs greatly from the others in my class. I believe that funding to the Iraq and Afganistan war should be slowly taken away, as shown when i only reduced it by 10%. The members of my class do not agree with this. Many in my class cut the war in Afganistan completely by 100%.

I believe with such a small class that we could easily come to a concencis to balance the budget. We share some views on most things, however we differ in others. I believe we could compromise to complete the budget, if it were up to us.

It is often discussed and argued that politics is very influenced by companies who offer support. The above graphic shows the companies conservatives and liberals support, along with their customer satisfaction rating by their reputation and customers willingness to recommend them.

The two partys often back the same partys, just with different importance  The republicans back fox and fox news unlike the democrats for their publicity on TV of their views.

The democrats stick to more internet and TV powerhouses for their backing in that industry. The republicans back companies with a higher customer satisfaction ratings, however the democrats back more public companies.

2nd Amendment Rights

             The second amendment states as passed by congress that, a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Ratified by the the states it says a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

             Guns being owned by the public is a free right to the people, is a free right that should not be taken from the public. However, there is no reason for a public citizen to own an automatic weapon. The amendment has not been updated to comply with new technology. When the amendment was put in motion, it was for the protection of citizens against the British. These days weapons are used for hunting and recreation.

            I believe the amendment needs to be altered to have command over all weapons, automatic and others. The amendment should not allow common citizens to own automatic weapons. The wording should be changed by stating that weapons can be ownded, except for automatics 

Party Platforms

Both parties in this years elections have very elaborate platforms. Both parties have a view that appreciates the middle class and the working people.


The Republican party has a unique style with its own mission statement: "The wisdom of the farmers of the united states constitution, who gave us a republic, as Benjamin Franklin cautioned, if we can keep it"


The Democratic party believes there is still changes that need to be made, and that they can 
still do better in another 4 years.
I feel the parties have done a good job of getting there party platforms out to the people. The
party conventions were very visible to the public. These conventions showed the public the party 
platforms to the public.

Political Cartoons

Political cartoons can be illistrated for many different reasons. These cartoons can express a wide varity of polictical views and standpoints. Some artists create them as commical blurbs, while others use them as a weapon, sometimes taking jabs at political canidates or platforms.

This cartoon may it into the sunday sintinel back in 2007. The upcomming election had a big push to raise voting turnout. Durring this time, TV shows began using the internet to let viewers interact with the voting process of the show, such as american idol. This particular cartoon caught my eye, because it show some of the ignorance of the american people these days. People have fought and died for americans to have the right to vote on who runs their country, and yet they choose not to, but they find it urgent for vote in on a TV show quickly as possible.

This cartoon make the website politicalschwag.com back in 2008 a short time after the election of barack obama. After this time the country was in a craze over the first black president to be elected. The artist created this cartoon to express this craze, with president elect barrack obama standing over Mt. Rushmore with an excited look, almost to exclaim "I'm next!" This cartoon struck me as a comical cartoon with no real harm or foul. The cartoon expresses that america had turned yet another page in racism, with the election of barack obama. Placing barack obama on Mt. Rushmore gave the feeling of his election being a "Larger than life" experience.

Political Expenience

I 've recently become interested in the politics of the world. As I grow up, I continue to find things in society that I don't agree with. Most of these things have to do with some sort of politics, weither it be on a national level or local organizations.

My story with politics began when I was in 8th grade. Each student in our classes had to complete the Golden Horseshoe test. I, along with 2 others were selected to go to the capital for our test scores on the Golden Horseshoe.

About two years ago, I began volunteering with the Memorial Day Committee Inc. to coordinate the parade every year. This organization taught me the basics of how to run meetings, as well as the use of Robert's Rules. This furthered my interest in politics

This summer I attended American Legion Mountaineer Boys State. There I learned how to run for a political office, as well as how political cacus works. The program also showed me how the job interview process works, as I interviewed to work at the Boys state bank, and accepted the Job offer for Vice President. As Vice President I oversaw the transactions the tellers of the bank entered into our systems.

This year I'm hoping to get more of an understanding of how political minds work. There are many policies that are passed that seem to have no explanation why. I would like to find an understanding how the process of creating a policy works without bias.

As for the future, I've thrown the idea of getting involved in city/county government. However, I'm not sure if this is the place for me to work. I have a lot of time to make a decision on what to do with the rest of my life.
